SEAFOOD SOUP

  • 1 pound bag shrimp

  • 1 pound bag mixed seafood

  • 4 Tilapia fillets

  • 2 T diced dehydrated onion

  • 2 t minced garlic (more or less to taste)

  • 1 t celery seed

  • 2 T of Knorr Tomato Bouillon with Chicken Flavor

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 jar (1 lb. 10 oz.) Ragu® Traditional

  • 1 small jar salsa

  • 3 cans (15 ounces) mixed vegetables

  • 4-6 cups of water and then boil water off or add water as needed.

I made this today and wrote this down. I never had a recipe for it...it just evolved over the years. The Knorr Tomato Bouillon usually can be found in the Spanish section of the grocery store. I didn't even know it existed until a Spanish lady was teaching me how to make tamales and this is what she used. Wow! This stuff is like the Sazon Goya...really good stuff! Makes the food taste like you have slaved for hours..,

Just put everything in a big pot and bring to a boil. Let it boil for about 10 minutes and then let it simmer until you are ready for it.

We eat it with rice and tortillas or chips.

VARIATIONS:

Add a can of diced tomatoes with green chilies if you want it spicier.

Add a can of corn.

Add a can of black beans.

Add all three of above for Spanish taste.

Now my husband would add (instead of the mixed veggies) :

  • 2 zucchini or yellow squash chopped up

  • bell pepper chopped up

  • 1/2 cup chopped celery

  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh onion

  • 2 large spoons of sour cream

  • 1 t paprika

  • fresh chopped cilantro

Actually, I like fresh chopped cilantro added to salsa, soups, beans, yum yum
