I am going to save you a lot of money by sharing a recipe that I have to make your own:

Sweetened Condensed Milk

I still buy it when I see it on sale, as I like to have it in my storage and for convenience.

However, this recipe is simple to make and works well.

First of all, when a recipe calls for a can of sweetened condensed milk, it usually refers to a standard 14-ounce can.

Some recipes do ask for other measurements, but this recipe is for the standard size can.

This version will store covered in the refrigerator, if needed, but just like the canned store-bought version, you should use it within three or four days to ensure its freshness.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1 cup powdered milk

3 Tablespoons of Melted Butter

1 to 2 drops of vanilla

There are two ways to make it.

The blender method is easier and works well in something your are baking, but the stove-top method will make it thicker.

Blender Method:

In the blender, place 1/2 of boiling water, add the rest of the ingredients.

Put the top on the blender and blend the mixture on high speed for about 30 seconds or until everything is smooth.

Stove Top Method:

Combine all ingredients. Heat to boiling. Cook until thick, this will take 15 to 20 minutes.
